Comprehensive Optometry ~

Now serving Florida Optometrists in need of reliable temporary office coverage.
My Dear Patients, I am at that age where it is time to put family first. While I am not wholly retiring from Optometry, I am retiring my practice at Macy's at the Mall at Wellington Green on October 30, 2021.
30 Years is a long time to practice Optometry, but I can't think of a better profession! I mean, what could be better than watching someone put on their new glasses or contacts and witness them wonder in awe at the newly focused view as if seeing their world (or book) in focus for the first time? Very few things are better, and I thank YOU for allowing me that pleasure!!
I don't think I could ever completely retire from such a noble and worthwhile career but there does come an age when everyone should take stock in life and reprioritize what is important. In that vain, instead of focusing on profit/loss statements (it was never about that anyway!), I will now focus on family most; occasionally covering other offices of ODs who are in desperate need of medical and/or mental health leave; and, of course, my OneSight missions where we provide free eye care and glasses to those less fortunate. I may even recharge my jam-making and hydroponics hobbies!
As always, STAY FOCUSED!!!

After graduating and receiving her doctorate at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1992, Dr. Carol Hecker Nason was immediately recruited to the renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Medical School and Jackson Memorial Hospital complex in Miami. During her 2-year placement, she rotated through all the medical specialty and vision clinics, taught ophthalmology residents about refraction, and developed, managed, and practiced in the indigent populations clinic. After moving to Palm Beach County in 1996, Dr. Carol opened her own primary care optometry part-time practice while raising her three young children and doing vacation/emergency relief work for other eye doctors in need. As Dr. Carol's practice has expanded over the years, she has similarly outgrown her small offices and has periodically moved on to bigger and better locations, the most recent being LensCrafters inside Macy's at the Mall at Wellington Green, from which she has recently retired. Retirement will allow Dr. Carol to assist other optometrists in need of vacation or medical leave, and focusing more on the joys of life with her husband, Michael, who is also an optometrist, and her three children who are now young adults.
An optometrist uses several tests and tools to evaluate your eye health and your vision. Your eye exam usually will include a glaucoma test, a retinal screening, a visual field screening, an extraocular muscle test, and a refraction test. The results of these screenings and tests help your eye doctor evaluate your vision and overall eye health. But an annual eye exam involves more than just updating your glasses or contact prescription. A comprehensive eye exam can also detect eye health issues as well as general health problems. Conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected in early stages through an eye exam, and this can result in early treatment.
A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes and vision will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered by your eye doctor.
Imagine if your child couldn’t see the blackboard clearly because they needed glasses but had no way to get them (no clinic, no optical, no money). That’s the reality for 1 in 7 people around the world. But you can help to change that.
OneSight and I are committed to providing everyone with access to clear vision so they can fulfill their potential to learn more, earn more, and live better. And we can’t do that without the generous support of people like you who want to help and are willing to donate. We can’t say enough how much we appreciate your support.

Dr. Nason is exceptionally personable and works very well with children and adults alike! She has helped my older daughter become comfortable with contacts and helped my younger one lose her fear of having an eye exam. She is kind and sincere!
Dr. Nason and her staff are extremely professional and caring. This is the second year I have seen them and I am treated as family. I never have to wait more than a few minutes and everything is very thoroughly done.
One of the best optometrists out there, she actually explains everything and goes into depth about your concerns and what you were looking for within yourself.
Dr. Nason was very thorough and explained everything she was doing and why. I found her to be knowledgeable and she was very friendly and made me feel at ease and comfortable.
